The Boston Tea Party was a tragic event for the British. Ships with taxed tea arrived the Boston Harbor in the month of November, 1773. The Sons of Liberty stipulated for the ships to leave right away. But when they didn't leave, Thomas Hutchinson wouldn't let them until they paid the tea duty. On the night of December 16, colonists disguised themselves as American Indians. They went on the tea ships and threw 342 tea chest into the Boston Harbor. The British prime minister heard of this Boston Tea Party and got mad. He talked to Parliament and decided to punish Massachusetts. In the spring of 1774, the British created the Intolerable Acts. They thought these steps would bring back order in the colonies but they just caused people to get more angry. These acts went against multiple of the customary rights. Therefore, colonist's began to write poems and essays about how harsh this is. British finally realized how abusive this was. They brought together the leaders from all the colonies to decide the best way to deal with this.
